OK, for about two weeks now, seemingly every few minutes, now matter what I'm doing, jaws suddenly says no window is active. Or if I'm in a winamp window listening to something, it randomly says the title by itself. All this only happens when the router is plugged into the PC, but not when I've tried the same router on my ancient laptop. What the hell's going on here?
Most likely a messages is being displayed on your PC Jaws isn't reading. That message only stays for a bit, but moves your cursor.
Do you use this PC wired and wireless, or only wired?
Fixes might be resetting the connection, or Jaws, meaning, repair it.
Also, you could make sure the system is clean of viruses.
That is all I could think of without seeing it.
Done all those things.
Then, you have a Windows arror.
You've not said what your OS is, but to fix this, you'd need to repair it.
That be the quick way to solving the issue without trouble shooting.
If this happens in other functions other then WinAmp, and only on this machine, that be what I'd do.
One more suggestion.
If you use Windows 8, and have a mail client open, when you receive emails, the cursor moves.
This can happen in Windows 7.
Because you have not posted any changes you may have made to your system in the 2 weeks, or do not know, you can use system resore to return it to a time before you experienced the issue, and see if that solves the problem.
Still stuck using xp for the time being. No option. So, do I have to do a fresh re-install, or is there a way to search for the error and have the OS fix it?
You could call on Microsoft accessibility people to get on your computer and fix it remotely if that is going to be possible. Phone: 800-936-5900 I don't know however if you can stay connected long enough for them to get on your computer. Just a suggestion.
They aren't supporting XP anymore, so that not do.
A couple things. XP can be backed up provided you didn't change the amount of days, or keep it from storing backup copies.
Go to system restore, and move it back before you had the trouble.
Find this under control panel.
Now, if that doesn't work, you have these options.
First, you can use the computers factory reset, provided the OS was installed by them. This will set the computer back to like it was new.
If you do that, you'll have to reinstall everything however, so that might cause you some problems getting some programs.
Second, you can use an XP disc. Doing this you place the disc in the drive, restart the system, and select repair, instead of install.
This most times leaves all your programs and such intact, just repairs the glitches in the OS.
The second 2 options will require sighted help.
It is possible knowing you use XP, that an update caused this issue, but that require hands on to figure that out.
If you don't have an XP disc, ask here, or search online for one. You should be able to get one easy.
